Quiet Luxury

The term “quiet luxury” might not be as current it was in the middle of last year but the aesthetic—which centres largely on minimalist and classic pieces—has firmly made its mark on 2024’s colour trends.

Of all the ’90s trends that have made a comeback over the past few years, brown is the one with the most staying power. Back in a way that we’ve never before seen, brown has taken over boots, bags, shoes and clothing this season, and it’s reign is set to continue well into 2024—just ask Loewe, Ferragamo, Givenchy, Gucci, Hermès, Max Mara, Michael Kors, and Saint Laurent, for it appeared top-to-toe in the spring/summer collections.

Brown is having a renaissance. From deep chocolate to buttery toffee, brunette hues have returned from fashion exile to become one of the most sought-after shades of the year.

What also makes brown perhaps more appealing than other neutrals is not just that it’s easy to pair with other colours, but that it is super flattering, offering a much softer and less harsh alternative to black.

Complementing all skin tones, brown is surprisingly easy to style and can be thought of as a neutral base to layer other colours and prints on, or wear it head to toe by pairing different textures alongside each other.
