Maslenitsa also known as Butter Week or Crêpe week, is an Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday, celebrated during the last week before Great Lent. Perhaps the most cheerful holiday in Russia. This holiday is considered to come from pre-Christian times, when the Slavs were still pagans.

You don’t need to find a beach to beat the winter blues. There’s an invigorating, rosy-cheek feeling that comes from a day out among fresh air and snow—followed by something hot to drink. The mountains are a remote escape from humanity, a place to be alone and soak up the sunrise, the sunset or just the sun’s rays. Introvert Heaven. Continue reading

Christmas is coming. Every year, everyone celebrates this special holiday season. This is not just for kids, but also for the whole family. It is the time for love, happiness and forgiveness. I love Christmas. Decorating the tree. Picking out special gifts to give to my loved ones. Listening to holiday themed songs on the radio. Watching heart warming films such as ”Home Alone”, ”It’s a Wonderful Life” and cartoons like ”Frosty the Snowman”. I love the twinkling lights. The celebration of Christmas makes me happy. New England… Boston

Boston is one of the US’ most beautiful cities. It is, indeed, the “city on a hill” as its Puritan forefathers proclaimed it. It’s a beautiful gem, with museums, colleges, and even the headquarters of the Christian Science and Unitarian Universality churches. Boston captures the essence of New England – a region located in the northeast corner of the USA, made up of six diverse U.S. states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. The region is bounded to the north by Canada, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by Long Island Sound, and to the west by the state of New York. There are rivers and lakes, towering forests, mountain ranges with hiking and skiing trails, pastoral farmland and countryside, and dramatic rocky coastline and soft, sandy beaches. Continue reading

Canada is a land filled with fascinating places and amazing adventures. Being a Canadian means enjoying every single part of this country! You will never find such an amazing and wild beauty as here in Canada! The time between mid-September till the end of October is where Tremblant is most breathtaking.  The trees are beaming with great colors and the air smells great.

Mont Tremblant is our destionation for today. With its six great rivers and 400 lakes and streams, Parc national du Mont-Tremblant is a canoer’s paradise. It’s a rich amalgam of Québec’s natural and historic heritages, being the largest and oldest park in the network. This wilderness is so vast that it is home to 40 mammal species, including the wolf. There is also the Via ferrata du Diable, an intermediate activity between hiking and climbing that will let you discover the park’s mountains in a way you could otherwise only dream about. Chicago — Stunning. Iconic. Wondrous. It will capture your heart. You will never get tired of the skyscrapers downtown. My eyes still widen as I soak in icons like the Tribune Tower and Wrigley Building. These aren’t just functional boxes holding offices and people. There is beauty all around. This city is bustling and yet it retains a feeling of airiness as it gleams in the sun. Continue reading

Gaspésie Journey – Day 2

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

A hiking hotspot, Parc national de la Gaspésie gives visitors access to an extraordinary mountain environment. The Chic-Chocs and McGerrigle Mountains cross the park. Among them, Mont Jacques Cartier is the second highest peak in Québec. The altitude of these mountains deeply influences the climate that moulds the landscape and creates a diversity of species unique to Québec and even the world. Arctic-alpine plants and tundra landscapes form a habitat for a herd of woodland caribou, the last representatives of this species south of the St. Lawrence. Continue reading

Gaspésie Journey – Day 1

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

I tell you this story about the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life, but come to prepare for a long drive and hard hiking. It is about a breathtaking place, one that is full of curious equivocations; somewhere half serene, half rugged, on the lip of a body of water that is half river, half sea. I think everyone should know about it for it holds so much beauty, so much Canadian history. Recognized by National Geographic Traveler as one of Canada’s 50 Places of a Lifetime, Gaspésie gives you the opportunity to discover four national parks; famous Percé Rock; the world’s most accessible northern gannet colony; a UNESCO World Heritage Site; moose; summits over 1000 metres; lighthouses; Chaleur Bay, one of the most beautiful bays in the world; remarkable historic sites and much more.

Deciding where to go with your kids in Canada can be a daunting decision. Mountains, prairies, beaches, ice fields and easy-going cities are strewn across six time zones. Yet between sure-bet wildlife sightings, meeting real-life cowboys, hands-on learning about pirate history, roaming the plains for dinosaur fossils and ice-skating on mountain lakes, it’s impossible to make a bad choice. Add the fact that Canada caters to kids better than nearly any other country in the world and you may find yourself as many people do – bringing the kids back year after year. Continue reading

Motivation is not an unlimited wellspring but a battery that has to be kept fully charged. While the idea of travel is always inspiring, sometimes life gets in the way and then suddenly, your eyes are no longer on the prize. Motivated people can achieve anything they set their mind to. But how does one stay motivated, especially to travel, when you are busy working and living life while your family or friends disparage your ideas, you’re overwhelmed planning your trip, or maybe you’re just burnt out from being on the road? It’s important to find ways to stay motivated. 🙂 Continue reading
