Gold leaf can be a wonderful addition to acrylic painting, as it provides contrast in sheen and reflectance. I have always loved using gold leaf for my artwork so I use both gold and silver leaf a lot in my paintings.
You can buy the very expensive gold leaf which is actually gold or you can also purchase what is known as imitation gold leaf or bronze gold leaf. I use the bronze gold leaf a lot as it still gives out a nice shine and has the look and colour that I want.
The main thing with the gold leaf is the different kinds of gold leaf can have different colours. So you need to be sure the gold leaf you decide to use has the colour and shade you desire.

Thank you for the inspiration to use gold leaf. I love the look of it too, but for some reason forget to use it. Maybe…just maybe, this will be the season to give it a try.
