Each year, the Canadian Tulip Festival celebrates the return of spring by showcasing over a million tulips across Canada’s capital region. The festival is the largest of its kind in the world and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the globe. If you’ve never been to Ottawa for the annual tulip festival, make sure to add it to your bucket list! While everywhere in the world tulip season runs from the end of March until mid May, east-side Canadians are lucky to admire it till the mid of June.

This year we did not go to Ottawa for such a beautiful event because we found absolutely amazing fields of tulips in Montreal area. If you’re on the hunt for one of the prettiest springtime destinations near Montreal, look no further than the giant tulip festival taking place in Laval.

This year, the festival has planted over 500,000 tulip bulbs making for one massive field of flowers.  Take a stroll around the colourful fields and bring your own bucket because this festival lets you pick your own tulips.

I love tulips better than any other spring flower; they are the embodiment of alert cheerfulness and tidy grace. Their faint, delicate scent is refinement itself; and is there anything in the world more charming than the sprightly way they hold up their little faces to the sun.

ПОЛЯ ТЮЛЬПАНОВ

Если вы хотите узнать, что же скрывается в сердце нераскрытого тюльпана, и сидит ли там на самом деле Дюймовочка, то вам непременно нужно побывать на канадском Фестивале тюльпанов в Оттаве. Фестиваль в канадской столице уже стал доброй традицией. А началось все с 1945 г.

Именно тогда, осенью 1945 года Королева Нидерландов подарила канадцам 100 тысяч луковиц тюльпанов. Тюльпаны — в благодарность за убежище, которое члены королевской семьи получили во время Второй мировой войны в Канаде, а также в знак признания роли военных Канады в освобождении Нидерландов. C тех пор Оттава ежегодно получает в дар 20 тысяч растений: 10,000 от королевской семьи и столько же от правительства Нидерландов.

В этом году мы отступили от традиции ехать в Оттаву, потому что открыли для себя в пригороде Монреаля – в городке Лаваль бесподобные поля тюльпанов. В Лавале есть ферма, которая предлагает отдохнуть на природе среди красочных полей тюльпанов. В этом году высажено 500 000 разноцветных тюльпанов, среди которых можно сделать отличные фотографии. Для сбора цветов не нужно привозить никаких инструментов, однако захватите с собой ведерко, так как срезанные тюльпаны должны находиться в воде.
