The Montreal Botanical Garden, one of the city’s jewels, is recognized as one of the world’s greatest botanical gardens. It offers a colourful program of events, exhibitions and activities all year long. Along with the Biodôme, the Insectarium and the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, the Botanical Garden is part of the Montreal Space for Life, Canada’s largest natural museum science complex and Montreal’s top must see attraction.

No matter what is the season, there is always something to do at the Montreal Botanical Garden. If you will visit it during the winter months, while it is covered by snow, the Chinese Garden section of the park resembles an Asian winter wonderland; in September you will see a gorgeous Lantern Festival; in early May you will be amazed by blooming tulips and an astonishing number of yellow magnolias flowered against a clear blue sky. During summer, once in several years the most beautiful event takes place in Botanical Garden – Montreal Mosaicultures Exhibition Show, plant sculptures – two and three dimensional constructions, cultivated by 200 international horticultural artists originating from more than 20 countries, making it the largest Eco-responsible event to come to Quebec.

It’s huge, it’s gorgeous, it’s amazingly well maintained. Tropical and desert plants are housed indoors as are exotics and bonsai. The many outdoor gardens include every variety you can think of including edibles, “western”, “oriental”, showy, poisonous plants and more.

Be prepared for lots of walking so wear comfortable shoes and don’t be in a rush to leave, because lots of beautiful sites awaits for you. Bring your lunch and snacks, drinks, there are places to sit and enjoy.

БОТАНИЧЕСКИЙ САД – МОНРЕАЛЬ

Среди множества интересных достопримечательностей канадского города Монреаль отдельного внимания, несомненно, заслуживает Ботанический сад – один из лучших ботанических садов мира. Это зеленый островок в центре Монреаля, который пользуется особой популярностью среди гостей и туристов и считается одним из самых красивых садов в мире. Монреальский ботанический сад входит в четвёрку природных достопримечательностей города в музейном квартале «Пространство для жизни». Другие три — это Биодом, Инсектариум и Планетарий Рио Тинто Алькан.

Вся территория сада разбита на тематические парковые зоны, общая коллекция которого включает более 26 тысяч растений. Помимо 30-ти тематических садов, он включает 10 выставочных оранжерей, с культурой садово-паркового ландшафта разных стран мира. Например, в Японском саду можно стать участником регулярных чайных церемоний, Сад канадских индейцев знакомит с породами деревьев и растительности этого региона. Великолепие Китайского сада встретит вас водопадом и изящной пагодой эпохи династии Мин. Также большой популярностью среди гостей пользуется альпийский сад и розарий, а самые маленькие посетители не упускают шанса ознакомиться с садом ядовитых растений.

Но самое интересное среди этого многообразия, пожалуй, скульптуры из цветов (такие выставки проходят раз в несколько лет). Они разбросаны по территории и встречаются в самых непредвиденных местах. Каждая из фигур имеет проволочный каркас, внутри которого все сделано так, чтобы с внешней стороны растения могли покрывать объем, разрастаться и не засыхать. Гуляя по тропинкам, ощущаешь себя лилипутом в стране великанов.
