One of this season’s hot fashion trends is mixing textures. However, it takes a little bit of thought to pull the perfect mix-and-match look together. It is all about colour and graphic art, so mixing it all together can sometimes be hard. The one thing you want to do is to stick to one piece that really is the statement. Then, have little pieces of other textures. The trick to mixing textures is mixing a little bit of everything, not a lot.

Yes, mixing patterns and textures can be tricky which often result in wrong combinations that don’t look that good. This is why most of people say they’d never do it. But seriously, it can look amazing if done correctly!

One basic rule of fashion is always about having an elegant balance to your outfits, and this will only go perfectly to this mixing technique if you understand the balance between scales, colours, themes of the patterns. When you’re mixing your own patterns, look for a connection: it could be a color, a shape, a silhouette.

First of all, it is worth recalling that prints can really empower your body silhouette. Horizontal lines can make your figure looks wider while vertical lines do the opposite way. Small prints will make you look subtle, while large patterns really highlight your outfits, as well making you look wider, super busy and heavy. There are many ways of mixing prints to look polished and not overwhelming. The key is to stick with only two prints and pair your outfit with basic solid accessories, such as bag, belt, jewelries or heels. Or you may mix two similar scaled prints – but not two super big ones – as long as you break it up with something solid. Make sure your patterns and textures won’t compete each other.

Мы, порой, боимся смелых экспериментов и стараемся сочетать вещи старыми проверенными способами. Однако, умение совмещать совершенно, на первый взгляд, разную по стилю и цвету одежду – признак высокого, художественного вкуса и замечательный способ всегда выглядеть индивидуально, свежо и модно!

Лучше заменить одну из вещей на однотонную. Абсолютно разные принты можно сочетать между собой, если они выполнены в одной цветовой гамме.

Для того чтобы не оплошать, сочетая два или более принта, нужно усвоить правило «трех». Это правило включает несколько простейших стилистических приемов, позволяющих не выходить за рамки здравого смысла. Любой принт на одежде — это не просто украшение, это еще и цвет. Он может быть четким или размытым, густо покрывающим всю ткань или довольно редким.

Помните, правила – не догма, и из любого правила существует не одно, а множество исключений. Важно научиться чувствовать то, что близко именно Вам, а тогда уже никакие правила не понадобятся, и все перейдет в область интуиции.
