The charm does not end at the Old Québec City and today, I want to share with you an amazing trip to Parc de la Chute-Montmorency which is a few minutes away from it. Located between the river and the cliffs, it’s one of the province’s most spectacular sites. With its 83 meters high (30 meters higher than Niagara Falls), Montmorency Falls dominates the landscape. It can be discovered on foot, by cable car, or from the gourmet restaurant. For the more active, a 300-meters double zipline, and the via ferrata, a hiking trail on a cliff, promises some adrenaline and breathtaking views. Accessible year-round, the site works its magic day and night. The entire cove of the park has been illuminated after dark. Let’s discover this impressive and enchanting spot together!
We had 2 options – to take the 487 stairs or to take a cable car to the top of the Suspension Bridge. We decided to take the Cable car at the end of the tour which was fun to ride once. If you guys have tried cable cars before, I recommend you skip this and hike to the top of the falls, what we actually did, to really enjoy the natural beauty. It was a nice experience to view the falls from top of the Bridge. We walked back down through the wooden steps on the other side of the falls which also has some great view points and Picnic spots. I really recommend you walk to the platform at the bottom of the falls even if you fear getting drenched.
Back on the mainland, the impressive Montmorency Falls are visible from Autoroute 440 and act as a hub for outdoor activity in all seasons. You can view the waterfalls from the bottom, from the top, from paths along the side, and even from above, on a bridge that crosses them a top. These falls, however, are far narrower. They were named by Samuel de Champlain for his patron, the duke of Montmorency, to whom he dedicated his voyage of 1603. The yellow cast of the falls comes from the high iron content of the riverbed. On summer nights, the plunging water and its surrounding cove is illuminated.
Québec City is worth to visit! There is so much history in Québec. I like how it maintained its old world charm. Everyone will love the sights in Québec City.. a city so much like Paris but only several hours away from Montreal.
Good bye Québec City! I hope you liked the trip, I’ve shared with you. Thank you for your comments!
